Shaper: Ryan Engle
Daily Rental: $75
This is one of many personal custom shapes I’ve been fortunate enough to work with alongside Ryan Engle. The shape is derived from a combination of the Sprout 2.0 and the Paragon. It has the turning ability of a pintail, with the famous nose riding stability of a Sprout 2.0. This has quickly become one of my favorite boards in the quiver. Ideal for the 170 lb+ longboarder.

Designer: CJ Nelson
Shaper: Ryan Engle
Daily Rental: $50
This CJ Nelson Pintail Sprout was the first of two boards that Ryan Engle shaped for me. The goal was to get the nose riding stability of The Sprout, but with a pintail for steeper or bigger waves. He nailed it right out of the gate. This is when I started becoming obsessed with 10'x24" wide boards. I was around 205 lbs when this was shaped so the extra volume reflects that. This is an incredibly user friendly board that works in all size waves.
Size: 10’-0”
Designer: EC Surfboards
Daily Rental: $40
Shaped by Eric Christenson out of Orange County, and the brother of the slightly more famous Christenson down in San Diego. Eric is an amazing shaper in his own right and sells boards around the world. This board is beautiful in person with a great resin tint Volan glass job, and the black nose just pops! I surfed this board quite a few times when I first got it a few years back, but it's definitely geared for a bigger guy—I'd say this board is best suited for a surfer in the 220 lb. plus range.
Size: 9’-4”

Shaper: Hank Byzak
Daily Rental: $75
I'm the second owner of this beautiful 9'10" Competitor shaped by the legend, Hank Byzak (RIP) back in 2000. Very agile yet stable. It’s my oldest sons personal favorite. For reference, he's about 6' and 170 lbs and very graceful on a log. Yet loves to surf this board with lots of rail to rail transitions in between graceful cross stepping. If you have never tried one of these boards, I highly suggest it.

The CJ Nelson Designs Sprout 2.0 has a versatile mid-length that delivers plenty of speed, stability, and easy wave-catching without sacrificing performance. Its balanced shape makes it equally at home cruising smaller waves or carving through more powerful surf, making it a great all-around board for surfers who value smooth, effortless style. This is the second of the two lavender boards that Ryan Engle shaped for me. The goal was to reproduce a copy of the first 2.0 prototype that I got from CJ but with a little extra volume for my weight at the time. This board was my go to for surfing Sano and Doheny and I still love it. It's best suited for people 195 lb plus and up to around 230 lbs. An amazing board!

Designer: Sakal Surfboards
Daily Rental: $40
The Cheater by Sakal Surfboards is a versatile noserider that blends modern and old-school features offering a wider nose, and the deep nose concave flows into a hull shape with a slight vee off the tail. Ed Sakal is in the HB Shapers Hall Of Fame and makes amazing boards that just work. In my opinion he's still under appreciated as a shaper. This little pintail has been in the family for about 12 years now. It was my oldest son’s first longboard and every person that surfs it loves it!
Size: 9’-3”
Designer: CJ Nelson

The CJ Nelson Designs Sprout 2.0 has a versatile mid-length that delivers plenty of speed, stability, and easy wave-catching without sacrificing performance. Its balanced shape makes it equally at home cruising smaller waves or carving through more powerful surf, making it a great all-around board for surfers who value smooth, effortless style. This particular board was a custom shape for someone who. for whatever reason. didn't take it home so I scored it! Shaped by Darius Gross out of San Diego, it's never even been waxed! This one was shaped for a girl so I'm betting at 9'3"is perfect for you smaller or lighter footed wahines!

The CJ Nelson Designs Classic Pintail from Thunderbolt Technologies blends historical log styling with modern performance. These pintail shapes offer drawn-out, snowboard-like carves, solid hold in steeper waves, and smooth trim paired with noseriding capabilities. I enjoy this board, but find it pretty "floaty". Having said that, CJ and Ryan designed this one for CJ's weight so it will work for everyone. But in my opinion, it fits surfers 180 lbs plus, probably even up to around 230.

Designer: CJ Nelson
Shaper: Ryan Engle
Daily Rental: $60
Thi CJ Nelson Designs Pintail Sprout 2.0 is another custom shaped for me by Ryan Engle. It comes in at 10' x 24"…but thin. It’s a very lightweight yet stable board that flies down the line and loves to be surfed rail-to-rail while still being stable on the nose in the pocket, and even in mushier waves. I've also surfed this board in overhead surf and it was amazing. I personally like it in shoulder-high plus surf but it gets rave reviews by lighter-weight people in small surf as well. This design is so badass that I have four so far in various sizes!

This Bing Elevator is a high-performance technical noserider that combines a nose concave and step deck with a subtle tail rocker to create balanced lift and nose flex, allowing surfers to lock into the pocket on steep and point waves. Size: 10’-0”
Designer: CJ Nelson
Daily Rental: $50
This is the first poly board I got from CJ and the one that started me down the CJ Nelson Designs rabbit hole—specifically the Sprout and the Paragon. It's 10' long x 24" wide, yet really thin with 50/50 rails all the way down to the fin box where the rails get sharp and there's some considerable tail kick. It's very thin for it's size. I LOVE this board, and although it also works for my weight and ability, I have come to prefer just a little more foam. Every single person that's into logging immediately falls in love with this board. It's very user friendly and stable yet flickable. Highly recommended.
